New York, NY (July 16, 2008) - Just Blaze got busy battling DJ Delinger at the Rebuilding the Bridge Benefit at the Michael Schimmel Center of the Arts at Pace University in NYC this weekend. Nas was also there. Go here for some additional footage. It was a benefit for disaster relief funds. Holler.
New York, NY (July 16, 2008) – Common chops it up across the pond with Timmy about parties and bullshit. Does Common ever sound overly modest to you? Is he really that chill of a dude? Eh. At least dude admits to being overly fond of A. Keys.
New York, NY (July 17, 2008) – “It’s 19-90-5…” One of my favorite West Coast groups, one of my favorite songs, period. The remix the kids laced here was dope, added a lot of musicality to an already dope beat. Flipped the sample something heavy. I like both versions for different reasons. In one word: Felt. Go scoop the original off Labcabincalifornia, or grab this version from Delicious Vinyl here.
New York, NY (July 17, 2008) – From The El Rey in Killa Kali. I’m becoming a fan. Read more about them at their MySpace. HA @ Brooklynati. They’re currently on tour with Hieroglyphics through the middle of August. “Shake It Off” is also dope, too, albeit with a clunky chorus. Holler.
New York, NY (July 17, 2008) – My boy Shaune put me onto this dude years ago after chopping up a Murs song (I forget which) to make an instrumental, showcasing his fledgling engineering skills. Sadly I slept for too long. About a year ago I started to pay attention again, and it’s an exciting time to be a fan if you are one. I posted his Mic Sessions the other day, and will continue to post shit about him in the future. Nice flix here.
New York, NY (July 21, 2008) – Banner chops it up during the video shoot for “Shawty Say,” the next single off of his recently released album, “The Greatest Story Ever Told.” Peep the not-so-subtle hint of him wanting to be an actor. Directed by Ulysses Terrero, shout out to Skee TV for the hook-up.
New York, NY (July 22, 2008) – Asher, Luda and a few others sat down for dinner in ATL not too long ago. Among the many topics: Mr. Steve Rifkind’s cameo on Roth Boys and surrounding yourself with good people. Who do you think Luda was texting?
New York, NY (July 22, 2008) – Courtesy of Ruby Hornet TV, spotted at Nahright. The Atlanta emcee goes in backstage at Rock The Bells in Chicago for their “Freestyle In The Park” series. I’ve been hearing good things about this dude, checked out a few joints on http://www.myspace.com/bobatl MySpace. The “Mellow Fellow” is dope, “Lovelier Than You” is better. It’s good to see an artist embracing creativity; the guitar, sing/song delivery to his raps is refreshing.
