New York, NY (November 13, 2008) – The XXL coverboy stopped through Universal here in NYC to play some beats for SRC Head of A&R Dante Ross and we had a chance to chop it up afterwards. He gets into a RIDICULOUS verse talking about his path of growing up, and in our interview, talks more about that. The topics: meditation, doing what he’s afraid to do, thinking he was the shit when he got signed and why he keeps a compass on his left hand.
New York, NY (November 11, 2008) – We caught up with the homie Serius Jones last month at SRC and spent some time getting to know a little more about the dude MOST people only know from the battle scene. In his Full Volume segment, duke spits a verse from “Long Time Coming” and a verse off of “The Greatest.” He also gives details of his new short film, “Life Is Serius” and why you should care about his story. Be on the look for the “Serius Bizness” mixtape due out around Thanksgiving, too. Cheah.
In his interview, Serius talks about his new album “Greatness” that he was recently recording in Atlanta that features Needlez and Malay (“Green Light”) as well as the oft-talked about “Life Is Serius,” now liberated from DTP and preparing for the many battles earlier in his career. His analogy to why the DTP situation soured is especially interesting.

New York, NY (November 6, 2008) – From one Jersey resident to another, I caught up with Mazzi (of S.O.U.L. Purpose and Best of Both Offices) for a segment of Loud Favorites (check for the interview later on) down by Journal Square. Son is a good dude, works hard and is a more dynamic emcee than most people realize. He goes in on four quick verses here, and if you’re not impressed, I’m not sure what to tell you. Son got busy.

New York, NY (October 30, 2008) - We caught up with Boston transplant J The S (formerly Jake The Snake) at Columbus Circle during a warmer time in NY, but wanted to wait for the perfect moment to unleash this. With the debut of his latest single, “My Will,” it seems only right. Now staying in NY, son is one of the better lyricists you’ll hear on the indie circuit because the intel on this guy is that what he raps about… he does. A novel idea, eh?

New York, NY (October 27, 2008) – In town to do some work with Rakim, Quik stopped through the SRC offices to link up with the homie Reality. You already saw the Detox bit when he revealed some details about Dr. Dre’s upcoming (and REAL!) album… but you haven’t seen this portion yet. For this segment, I flipped the script a little bit and wanted to know about some of my own personal favorite Quik collabs – Tupac’s “Heartz of Men” and Talib Kweli’s “Put It In The Air.” One of the West Coast’s finest reveals the studio process of both men, and also some information about the creation of the beats you’ve never heard before. Awesome getting to hear about the people closest who got to work with Pac before he passed/moved to Cuba. Enjoy:
