Wednesday, November 12th, 2008

New York, NY (November 12, 2008) – Courtesy of OkayPlayer! This joint is off of 88-Keys’ mixtape “Adam’s Case Files,” the extra material that’s been made available to supplement the release of his album, “The Death of Adam,” in stores yesterday!  Outside of Oddisee and a few others, I don’t like when producer’s rap, but I’ve added 88-Keys into the fold.  But can you please get back in the studio with Mos Def!!!

Exclusive: Camp Lo + NMC – Get Your Own Lumdi Wrap-Up

Thursday, November 6th, 2008

New York, NY (November 6, 2008) – With all the Election Day hoopla now over with and the real work just beginning, you’re probably feeling a little spent (although I’m sure the celebrating will be in full effect this weekend). Camp Lo and The New Music Cartel had the remedy yesterday, and to follow-up, I wanted to be sure ya’ll got a piece of the action, too.

Camp Lo, in association with the NMC and Loud.com, launched their brand new EP yesterday. You can check out the songs below, each one made specifically for the six sites that are part of the NMC. Contestants were given clues and had to unscramble the meaning of the word “Lumdi,” the single Camp Lo recently released. To give some clarity, the meaning is this: “Cash Feels Like a Fem’s Touch.”

We have a winner, which we’ll announce next week, and we’ll have some more news regarding Camp Lo and some special remixes they have coming up. The will receive autographed copies of “Uptown Saturday Night” and “Let’s Do It Again,” as well as the jackets Suede and Cheeba wore during the “Lumdi” video. Congratulations!

Download the entire Camp Lo + NMC EP with all the official artwork, mp3’s and credits here.

The production credits on this project:

Tuesday, October 28th, 2008

New York, NY (October 28, 2008) – I was at SMT for a portion of Rosenberg’s follow-up to this installment, and, according to the god himself, it was as magical as the first go-round.  In his own words:

…This was done in one day in August. Oddisee did every beat and I did – well – I pulled it all together. Everyone came through and blessed on the strength. It was a beautiful hip-hop day and I hope you all enjoy it. There is much more to come.

Download “A Rosenberg Oddisee” here. For ya’ll wanting more on the D.C.-based producer/emcee behind this joint, enjoy his Vimby segment below or get over to Rosenbergradio.com

Exclusive: Interview With DJ Vlad Pt. 2 – Mixtape DJ’s, Blogs and Music Money

Thursday, October 23rd, 2008

New York, NY (October 23, 2008) – Vlad continues on the mixtape discussion and mixtape DJ’s, as well as discussing the music blog’s roll in helping proliferate new music. This particular discussion was interesting because Vlad hints that a lot of mixtape DJ’s aren’t as rich as people perceive them to be. He also argues that the rapid-fire nature of the blogs is good for music. Yup.
