New York, NY (November 17, 2008) - These are ill! Props to Wired and their readers for coming up with some sick flicks and sharing them. My favorite is the “Underbelly” joint above. Something about the black and wide, the blurred edges, the unfinished, thrift shop look. That’s my shit!
…Conveying the excitement people feel about music in a still image can be like describing sight to the blind. The 10 reader-elected finalists of our music photo contest may not make you hear music, but they expertly capture a musical moment. Blair takes home the gold with his photo “The Horn Player” at left. Click through the gallery to see the contestants who were nipping at his heels.
Since we had so many great photos that we thought should’ve received more votes, and because we love to anger readers with our selections, we’ve also compiled a Wired.com Editor’s Choice Music Photo Gallery.
Our next twice-monthly photo contest is Heat. It’s cold outside this winter and we need to warm our feet by your photographic fire. Check out the contest page for more information.

New York, NY (October 3, 2008) - I honestly haven’t picked up a Source in years, so I couldn’t tell you if this is better or worse. But at least in PDF format, it looks pretty straight. On a side note, all I ever see is almost-superstars on the cover of their mag… did they burn more than just the Aftermath bridge at some point? Eh. Download your own preview here.
New York, NY (October 2, 2008) – Just another reminder about the beat battle that’s goin down Sunday, October 12th at Don Hills here in NYC. Check the flier above for details, or click here. You can register for the whole thing through Paypal right now if you know you got game and can attend.
In the meantime, check out Fort Knox at the Atlanta leg of the Scion Hypeman Contest. He’ll be one of the co-hosts at the King of NY battle, and while he probably won’t be THAT hype… he’ll be hype. His bit is Part 1, and your luck doesn’t end there – he’s the first hypeman up! Somehow, he didn’t end up winning, but you get a sense of the madness to be had whenever duke steps to the stage.
Peep their YouTube channel here, and another video, as well as some pics, from some ATL battles below. MORE. FIRE.
